A circa 1830 cedrela settee from the West Indies, probably either Barbados or Jamaican in origin, featuring a rare and elaborate crest rail. The caned sides and back is serpentine. This piece is unusual in that the back is carved from solid cedrela. It also features a pine secondary seat rail.
This settee is featured in “British West Indies Style: Antigua, Jamaica, Barbados, and Beyond,” on page 144 by Michael Connors.
