19th Century English Oak Silver Chest with Double Lock
$5,800.00
This silver chest was made in England in the mid-19th century, circa 1850, and is made of oak with exposed steel hinges and strapping. This trunk was created to hold a Mackay, Cunningham & Co silver collection and still bears their original label inside. The trunk has a triple lock that requires two different keys. This would insure the safety of the silver because two people were required to open it. The keys were usually supplied to the butler and steward of the house.
