This secretary was created in England in the mid-18th century, circa 1760. The piece has a top broken pediment with pierced fretwork surrounded by dental molding ending in a carved rosette. The pediment sits on top of a dental molding detail sitting over blind fretwork. The top cabinet has glass doors with a stylized cross decoration and sits over a fall front desk with a brass covered lock. When open, the fall front desk revels fourteen drawers with a simple prospect door and a leather writing surface. The bottom cabinet has a two over three graduated drawer configuration and ends in four short marlborough legs.
