Philadelphia Double Pedestal

Quintessentual Quervellle!
This magnificent two
pedestal table is attributed
to Anthony Quervelle
(1789-1856) the highly
acclaimed Philadelphia
furniture maker. Quervelle
is well known for his use
of classsical elements in the
design and crafing of the
highest quality furniture
for the developing
American aristocracy.
Each pedestal has
superbly carved leaves
of acanthus and other
foliage above a foliated
base ring. The table feet
are characteristic lion's
paw, decorated with
acanthus foliage flanked
by applied scrolls, foliage
on brass casters. The
solid mahogany top
provides an elegant
dining table or folded
back to provide a highly
carved and decorative
pair of consoles.
