Impressionism was practiced widely
among American artists in the late 19th
and early 20th centuries. Art colonies
gathered in small towns with easy
access to large cities where artists
could sell their work. The most common
areas include Old Lyme CT
New Hope PA, Brown County IN.
Carmel and Laguna Beach CA were
thriving areas on the west coast.
