Mahogany bedstead (3-4)
Jamaica, 1805-25

A solidly Jamaican bed with plain headposts and turned footposts often indicative of the earlier form. The elegant line of the headboard demonstrates one of the classical forms of Jamaican headboards, central palm fronds flank by rosettes (often swirled). As is often the case in Jamaica the headboard is screwed into the back of the head posts. Minor repairs and restorations.
