Four-poster mahogany bed (1-2)
Jamaica, 1820-40

Straight headposts are generally found on earlier beds, and on higher style beds their feet often echo the feet on the footposts indicative of late Regency or early William IV styling. The usual multiple sequential rings of Jamaican bedposts are executed here with restraint. The headboard has reeding, stylized lotus leafs and rosettes typical of the parish of St. Elizabeth, which is in keeping with the provenance of the bed.
